Make-A-Wish® Canada Celebrates More Than 6,200 Unique Wishes Granted

Jan. 15, 2016, TORONTO – Thanks to an incredible display of generosity from donors and corporate partners and the heartfelt dedication of some very special volunteers and staff, Make-A-Wish® Canada is pleased to announce that it has granted 6,281 wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions since inception in 1983.

Sept. 3, 2015, TORONTO – Make-A-Wish® Eastern Ontario wish recipient, Tysen, 15, has received a Canadian Living Me to We Award (In the Community category) for his pursuit to raise $1 million to help grant the wishes of other children living with life-threatening medical conditions.


Make-A-Wish Rope for Hope Rappeller Gets A Huge Surprise

May 11, 2015 -- Alyssa was excited to rappel as part of Make-A-Wish® Eastern Ontario's Rope for Hope event, but had no idea that a huge surprise would be waiting for her at the bottom.


Her boyfriend Andy was prepared with a proposal that made her journey from the roof of the Courtyard by Marriott Ottawa East even more exciting.

Wish child Sacha, 11, cerebral palsy and epilepsy, experienced the joy of having fun on a playground during his wish trip to Florida. It was the one and only time Sacha had access to an accessible playground during his short life.


Sacha's experience has inspired a campaign to bring playgrounds with facilities for disabled children to Ottawa. Denis Gratton of LeDroit covers this story of Sacha's legacy. 


Make-A-Wish Child Gets Royal Treatment at Miranda's Princess Ball

March 2, 2015 - A very special wish came true for a little girl yesterday. Miranda, 4, who suffers from Kostmann Syndrome, wished to be a princess for a day. Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario teamed up with the Fairmont Chateau Laurier, Fetes en Boites, and many other local businesses and community members who donated their time and services to throw Miranda an inagural Princess Ball to remember.
