Anthony's wish to have a Track Chair

Anthony is a 14-year-old boy who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy and has used a wheelchair since he was nine-years-old. This has been difficult as his family lives on a 120-acre sheep farm in Eastern Ontario.

When wish granters met with Anthony, he instantly knew that he was going to wish for a track chair to help him get around the farm with ease.

On July 24, 2016 at the Play it Forward for Wishes event hosted at the Metcalfe Golf and Country Club Anthony's wish came true!

Right as golfers were about to set out to play, it was announced that Anthony would get his wish. Lowell from the Track Chair Company rode out on the custom made wheelchair - "Track Chair". Anthony was quickly transferred into the chair, and while he had few words, his smile stretched from ear to ear. “I can go anywhere,” he said, sitting in the new chair.

There are a number of places on the family farm that Anthony couldn’t go before. It’s tough for his regular wheelchair to get to the barn, and when his two younger brothers and father go out in the bush, Anthony couldn’t go. Now, Anthony can do all of that and more. He can go in the snow with it, he can go on the beach, and he can go off-roading. He has regained his freedom!

Anthony and his family had a magical day and they are extremely grateful for the surprise and the generosity!

Special Thank you to Playing it Forward for Wishes for their support in adopting Anthony’s wish!
