Brayden's wish to meet Carey Price

Brayden is a 10-year-old boy living with Cystic Fibrosis who wished to meet his idol Carey Price. In March 2017, it was announced to Brayden that his wish would come true! On that day Brayden was surprised at Brooks Brothers with his favourite characters from the Capital City Garrison - 501 Legion as a decoy. Brayden being a huge Star Wars fan had no clue that his one true wish to meet Cary Price was to be revealed. Star Wars characters did a big announcement and Brayden was floored! He then turned the corner to see dozens of people chanting his name as he walked through a hockey stick tunnel towards the decorated Price's section of the store. Brooks Brothers suited Brayden up to get him game time ready. He sure did look sharp sporting his new suit!

On March 13, 2017 Brayden and his family flew from Sudbury to Montreal. That week in Montreal they had a record-breaking snowfall with over 40 cm of snow falling over Tuesday and Wednesday. However, this didn't dampen the mood! His wish experience started on Tuesday at the Montreal Canadiens game in a special box suite. Right at the beginning of the game, the Montreal Canadiens' mascot Youppi, came by to visit! He took pictures with everyone and enjoyed a few minutes of the game with Brayden's family.

Later that week, Brayden headed for the practice arena. Once he arrived he went straight to the locker room to lace up his skates and put on his helmet. Then he was off to the rink to meet his idol! It was an exciting moment when Brayden first saw Price standing in front of him. He got to shoot some pucks and have a chat with Mr. Price. Ice time was followed by pictures and autographs. Brayden watched the Montreal Canadiens' team practice and had a chance to see the teams players in action.

"Brayden got to do something that no typical 10-year-old boy gets to do. He got to meet, skate with, talk to, and shoot pucks on the greatest goaltender in the NHL, Carey Price. Our little family took our very first vacation together that didn't involve a hospital.

Brayden even went so far as to say, 'This is the greatest day of my life.' As a parent, there are no sweeter words. There are days over the past 10 years that have been some of the worst days of his little life, so to hear him say this, and to see the look of sheer joy and admiration on his face when he got to meet his idol made all of the struggles seem insignificant in that moment. In fact, we were almost thankful because without these struggles that day would not have been made possible. Thank you to Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario and the many hands involved in making this wish come true. We will forever be grateful for the experiences, memories and friendships that were formed as a result of the magic of a wish"
