Matthew's wish to meet Sidney Crosby

Matthew is a brave seven-year-old boy who was diagnosed with Parry Romberg Syndrome & CNS Vasculitis. He loves hockey his favorite player is Sidney Crosby. It wasn’t a surprise when he told us that his most cherished wish was to meet Sidney.

Matthew and his family flew to Pittsburgh, home of Sidney's team, the Pittsburgh Penguins. After a night at the hotel, the family was well rested and ready for the big day! That morning a representative from Make-A-Wish® Greater Pensylvania and West Virginia welcomed the family and brought them to the CONSOL Energy arena where they received Pittsburgh Penguins gift bags.

Matthew and his family got a private tour of the arena and then got to watch the Penguins practice. After all that excitement, they were brought to the locker room where they met several Pittsburgh Penguins players. After most of the players left the room, Sidney Crosby came over and spoke with Matthew and his family. He took pictures with Matthew, signed autographs and even gave Matthew one of his hockey sticks. Matthew couldn’t stop smiling!

Thanks to the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Make-A-Wish® Greater Pensylvania and West Virginia, Matthew and his family have some great memories to last them a lifetime. Matthew's family is very grateful to everyone who helped make this wish a reality.
